MailLoop Review – Is MailLoop Still Any Good?

mailloop-logo(This MailLoop review is done from talking to some regular MailLoop users, so it’s as accurate as can be)

Developed by the late Corey Rudl, one of the most popular Internet marketing gurus of all time, MailLoop (or Mail Loop) has been around for ages and is currently in version 7.

MailLoop is rated as one of the best desktop autoresponder software, and is divided into three core functions:

  • List Processor – Manage your entire mailing list, remove duplicates, and handle subscriptions
  • Outgoing Email Processor – Send out solo-emails, newsletters and timed autoresponders
  • Incoming Email Processor – Handles retrieval of emails and keyword based auto-response messages

When MailLoop was first launched, legitimate email marketing was a new thing and the software itself was considered revolutionary. Today however, there are tons of alternatives (some worth the money) to MailLoop.

MailLoop Review – Pros and Cons

Positive MailLoop Review

  • One of the earliest in-a-box autoresponder solution ever to be sold, so there’s a solid track record
  • You don’t need to pay a monthly fee, yearly fee or any other fee besides the one-time purchase fee
  • Allows you to create multiple list and email auto responders – and manage an unlimited number of subscribers
  • Subscribers can subscribe / unsubscribe from any / all email lists at the same time
  • Send emails and newsletters in both text and HTML, although the HTML features are rather limited
  • Built-in SPAM checking feature and email validation prevents complaints
  • The incoming mail processor can be set to automatically send predefined messages based on keywords in the title of incoming mail – this saves you lots of customer support hours
  • 90-day money back guarantee means you have three full months to test it out

Negative MailLoop Review

  • Although documentation is provided, the set-up and usage of the software can be complicated
  • Compared to modern autoresponders like Aweber or GetResponse, it lacks features that most marketers have come to expect
  • Since it’s a desktop based email marketing software, there is always a risk of SPAM complaints, banned IP addresses and data loss
  • The ease of sending out large volumes of email also depends on your computer’s capabilities and Internet connection speed – refer to the technical specs below
  • Support is moderate at best,as you may expect from one-time purchases

Although MailLoop is one of the best desktop-based autoresponders available, it’s no where as good as hosted autoresponders solutions. Unless you have a specific need for MailLoop, I would recommend that you go with Aweber. If you’re a corporate marketing manager and need professional assistance or an account manager, then try using iContact.

MailLoop Review – Pricing

MailLoop 7 will cost you $379 one-time. Once you own the software however there is no monthly fees or other charges, since MailLoop runs 100% on your own computer or laptop.

You also get a lot of bonuses:

  • FREE upgrade to MailLoop 7 “Professional” edition
  • Email marketing tips and videos
  • HTML templates you can use in your emails and newsletters
